The Mission of the Manhattan Business Academy Counseling Department is to support the academic, social, and emotional development of our scholars and future leaders. Our counselors partner with local community organizations, parents/guardians, and the entire MBA staff to ensure that all students are provided with the information, resources, and support needed to succeed in high school and beyond.
Scholars for Educational Opportunity - SEO Scholars is a rigorous year-round, out-of-school academic program that prepares motivated low-income public high school students to get to and through America’s competitive colleges and universities. The program serves 400 high school students in New York and San Francisco in addition to 212 college students across the country. The program is free for students and has tripled in size since 2006.
Minds Matter - Minds Matter in New York City is a program that mentors high-achieving, low-income high school students who have the potential and ambition to pursue a college education, but lack the resources to achieve that dream. Students who participate in this program receive intensive guidance through the college admissions and financial aid process.
College NOW (CUNY) - College NOW is CUNY’s largest collaborative program with the New York City secondary public school system. The program offers dual enrollment and college-readiness programs in more than 350 NYC high schools and enrolls close to 20,000 students annually. Currently, Manhattan Business Academy students are enrolled in College NOW programs at Baruch College, John Jay College for Criminal Justice, Borough of Manhattan Community College, and Bronx Community College.
